Presence over Preference

John 4:20-21 says, "Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship. Jesus said said to her, 'Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father." I think now more than ever we look more for our "preference" in worship than we do for God's presence. This past Sunday the Holy Spirit used our pastor to give one of the best sermon's on worship I have ever heard. The title was, "Worship-Encountering the Living God." Click the link to hear it. I hope you get out of it as much was we did.

Day 3

Well today was the second day home for Kinsey. We were a little worried yesterday because she had not pooped and was not peeing. Rejoice! Kinsey pooped twice and had a good pee this morning and seems to be "flowing" fine! We thank you all for your prayers through this pregnancy as well as your continued prayers for our entire family.

Caden's new thing is to give himself a "beard" at bath time. Even though Kinsey has only been home for 2 days he is not shy about already teaching her how to do things. Here Caden is teaching her how to pick her nose but I don't think she is paying to much attention to him.

Kinsey takes every opportunity to sleep, especially when Mimi is holding her.

Colossians: The Thanksgiving Day Book

Christa, Kinsey, and I plan on heading home today. As we reflect on the past couple of days and our lives in general we have so much to be thankful for. God has and continues to bless us in more ways than we can imagine. I would encourage you all today to take some time out and write down all the things that you can be thankful for. When you are done, pop open your Bible to the book of Colossians. It is small and it won't take you very long but as you read circle or underline all the times Paul makes mention of thanks, thanksgiving, etc... If you are a believer there is so much more for us to be thankful for but if your like me you allow the daily grind to get the best of you and it is hard sometimes to remember what blessings we have in Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Good Bean!!!

If you are like me you have come to enjoy one of God's greatest creations, coffee. When you work full-time for Chick-fil-A, take classes on-line at Liberty University, and have two kids you begin to realize why God created this wonderful beverage. As the sun rises I have come to enjoy nothing more than getting up early to a nice hot cup of Joe! I also enjoy a nice cup from one of the "evil empire" companies better known as Starbucks every once in a while. Then today I visited a fellow believers site (well actually he reminds me a lot of Jesus...love you Talkin' Man) and he had this link on there, Saint's Coffee. As I read over the site I thought what a great way to enjoy coffee and at the same time feed those who are less fortunate. So here is a challenge: take 3 minutes out of your day and check out the site, if your righteous you will begin to buy your coffee from them BUT if your busy "walking in the flesh" let me know and I will buy you a pound of your choice for free (ok, your not righteous if you buy and your not in the flesh if you don't but I think you get the idea). Anyways, please take me up on this and let me know what you think.

Biblical Parenting 101

As many and most of you know God blessed us with a little girl yesterday, Kinsey Grace Kidd. We are overjoyed to have this new addition to our family! The pregnancy was a long one and somewhat complicated, so to have little Kinsey lying in the crib next to us is truly a blessing.

Over the past month I have been reading through the book of Colossians. In Colossians 1:25 Paul makes a statement about stewardship. As I began to think about that verse and my responsibility as a father I began to realize that I am not the “owner” of Kinsey and Caden but like Paul I am a steward of God’s creation. The more I thought about this the more God revealed to me that actually everything in this life is not achieved from anything of my own but everything is a gift from Him and I am nothing more than a steward of His gifts, blessings, and talents. C. J. Mahaney put it best in his book, Humility: True Greatness, when he said, “All parenting is ultimate preparation for that day when your child will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give account.” Wow, I don’t think it can be put any better than that when describing how we as parents are nothing more than a steward of a life created by God.

When I view my role as a father as one who is responsible for someone else’s child and it is my job to prepare them for that final day everything changes. What I say, where we go, what we watch, what I buy them, who they hang out with, what they eat, everything is viewed differently. These children that God has given us are not our own, they are His. Think about how differently you would take care of the president’s car verses your own? I doubt you would let it go without regular maintenance and washing, especially if you didn’t know when he was going to ask for it back. The same holds true in regards to my role as a father. I am to care and prepare these children for that day when their true owner comes for them. What a high calling, yet what a huge responsibility. My prayer is not that my kids would grow up and get an education, find good jobs, and live happy lives (even though some of those things are important) but that they would grow up and be God fearing people because of the example that was set before them by their mother and father. I believe that this is the true definition of Biblical success in regards to being a parent. So please pray with us that God would grant us the true Biblical wisdom and knowledge to be faithful stewards of these beautiful children that we are blessed with.

Kinsey Grace Kidd

The Lord blessed us with Kinsey Grace Kidd today at 2:37pm. She was 6lbs 15oz. She out weighed her brother by 10oz!!! We came to the hospital yesterday under doctors orders but Christa didn't go into full blown labor until about 2:00pm today. She was a trooper since her epidural either wore off or didn't hit the right nerve but none the less we have beautiful little Kinsey at bed side with both mommy and baby doing great. Here are some pictures we hope you enjoy!

My Belly

I am almost to 36 weeks!! and I am ready to have this little girl. So for all my girlfriends who want to see, here is my belly. I had contractions today and thought we may have to go to the hospital but they did subside after an hour and a half. Maybe she will come early.
