Kinsey is Crawling

That's right folks. In one week Kinsey has learned to crawl and pull herself up to stand at the table in the living room. She is a busy girl. Still always smiling and still loves playing with her brother.

The Best Book I Never Bought

This past Friday Christa and I got the opportunity to go on a date (which doesn’t happen very often). But thanks to her mom (who is awesome) she said she could come and watch the kids. So, off we went! We decided we would just grab a bite to eat at a Mexican restaurant in Jupiter. When we arrived there was a 20 minute wait until we could be seated. After processing this information we figured it would be this long of a wait no matter where we went, so we put our name in and decided to head several doors down to Books-a-Million. I really enjoy book stores so the wait was actually a bonus. As usual I head straight to the “religious” section to see if there were any new titles or any books on sale. I picked up a book about different translations and began to skim through it. After putting the book down I noticed that they had several copies of pocket size ESV Bibles (which I have been wanting for some time now). I checked the price and began to rationalize/justify why I should buy one. I also looked at the price of the previous book and began to do the same. The price of the Bible and books were “in my justified” price range so I began to really rationalize why I needed one or both of them. It was at this point Christa popped her head around the corner and reminded me that we needed to head back. Realizing it would take too long to buy anything I put the books down and we headed back to the restaurant. On the way back I began to put my plan into action after we ate on how I would come back and buy at least the Bible (I mean after all it’s the Bible, what is wrong with buying that?).

After we sat down we began munching on the delicious chips and salsa while sipping on some of the best tap water this side of the Mississippi (ok, not really but that sounded really catchy and I always have wanted to say that). My mind began to think about my soon to be purchase when God began to speak to me. Do I really need another Bible? Psalm 23 says, “The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want…” It was at this point I realized that I spend more time chasing after things that I want rather than being content with what God has given me. Maybe instead of wanting “another” Bible I should read one of the four I already have on a regular basis! Or maybe I should take the money I was going to buy the Bible with and give it to someone who really needs either the money or the Bible? Or maybe I should stop justifying why I need worldly possessions and start falling in love with Jesus and begin living this life for Him and His glory; not my own. It was at this point that I realized the best book that I never bought was that Bible. A life that is lived for God and His glory doesn’t need another Bible to make him happy, more Godly, or content. A person who is living for God and His glory is more concerned with things other than himself. So what is it that I spend my time justifying in my mind that I need when in reality God is longing for me to be satisfied in Him and Him alone? What should we be doing with our time, talents, and treasures that we already have? What is God telling us in the Bible that we already have that we seem to ignore on a regular basis? Its funny how we think we “need” things when the things that we actually need have already been given to us, we just aren’t satisfied in them.

Water Park

Jody and I took the kids to the Water Park and they had such a fun time. Here are just a few pictures.

Silly Girl

I think Kinsey just found out her tongue can do funny things. She started sticking it out and now she makes funny noises when she sticks it out.
